With all the tragedies we see through Kwon’s “the work of waiting”, it is clear that many immigrants suffer from being apart from their family. This should be a problem that we can focus on. The whole Korean immigrant worker thing is a great example. Despite the fact of facing shortage on workers, the Korean immigrant workers were not welcomed. In my point of view, workers need to be treated just like any other kind of immigrants. As an immigrant, one is supposed to be equal to those who were originally born in this country, nationality-wide and spiritual-wide. Like for myself, I have spent the last 5 years studying in America. Though I am not an immigrant, I still felt really welcomed here. Such feeling gives me great power and strength when coming to overcome problems.

The global immigration patterns shift from time to time. With planes and high-speed trains, people are no longer fixed by geographical barriers. But following the traditional pattern, we still tend to immigrate from a comparably less advanced country to a more advanced one. For workers, they tend to come to more developed countries for a better life.
