It is very obvious that Many Okinawans, who were convicted as spies, had extremely harsh lives during that period of time. Living in such a society, people would constantly doubt at each other. The great value of trust would be completely lost undergoing that situation. Moreover, their own culture was greatly targeted and attacked. They were forced into reforms and cultural shifts.

As a result of losing the ability to trust, it was reasonable for the Okinawans to get suspicious about the Korean women. They had been living in an extremely pressured society for too long and that kills most trusts inside of them. They struggled on whether being an Okinawan or being accepted as a ‘real’ Japanese. Life was miserable for them. With that background in mind, the whole comfort women thing had brought more confuses and struggles into such a society. But in other aspects, it had also brought them an opportunity to prove to the Japanese of their ‘loyalty’. Anyway, it was a really important choice for all Okinawans.
